Our mission is to spread the message of Krishna consciousness and to provide an opportunity for people to lead a happy and peaceful life filled with happiness and prosperity. We aim to inspire people to practice the Yuga Dharma, which is the chanting of the Hare Krishna Maha-mantra, and to distribute the prasadam (food offered to the Lord) to everyone who visits our temple.
Our vision is to create a world where people are aware of the spiritual principles mentioned in the Vedic scriptures and practice them in their daily lives. We aim to establish Krishna consciousness as a way of life and to encourage people to serve the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna with devotion and love.
Our impact has been significant, as we have been able to inspire people to practice the Yuga Dharma and to develop a spiritual connection with Lord Krishna through our Chanters Club. We have also provided free and tasty lunch prasadam to hundreds of pilgrims visiting our temple every day through our Food Distribution program. Our FOLK Programs have helped youngsters to develop good values and to lead a life of happiness and fulfillment.
The history of Hare Krishna Movement dates back to 1966 when Srila Prabhupada, the founder-acharya, went to the United States of America to spread the message of Krishna and engage people in the practice of the yuga-dharma (chanting of the holy names of Krishna). In 1967, he established this society with the vision of developing it into a world-wide organization.
Srila Prabhupada’s mission was to systematically propagate spiritual knowledge, teach the sankirtana movement, and educate people in the techniques of spiritual life. He inspired his disciples to form self-sufficient farm communities based on the principle of ‘Plain living and high thinking’ and established a Gurukul in 1972 in Dallas, Texas, to educate children on the practices of spiritual life from childhood.
Srila Prabhupada progressively trained his disciples in the time-honored tradition of Deity-worship and introduced the worship of the Tulasi plant. He also established the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust in 1972, and these books form the basis of the Hare Krishna movement, translated into several languages.
As a child, Srila Prabhupada celebrated Ratha Yatra in Calcutta with his friends and neighbours, introducing him to the rich cultural heritage of India and the joy of devotional practices.
